This procedure proposes the creation of a standardized, interoperable emergency call system (eCall) across the European Union. The goal is to ensure that emergency services are automatically notified in the event of a serious vehicle accident, regardless of which EU country the accident occurs in, to speed up rescue operations and save lives. This will primarily affect vehicle manufacturers, who must integrate the technology into new cars, and emergency response services, who will receive precise location data and vehicle information during accidents.
