Mission & Goals

EPRI Europe DAC was established by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as its European research arm, and benefits from the wealth of experience, project knowledge and international network of EPRI. EPRI Europe DAC focuses on electricity generation, delivery, and use, provides technology, policy and economic analyses to drive long-range research and development planning, and supports research in emerging technologies. EPRI is a nonprofit scientific research organization headquartered in the United States and has collaborated with the electricity sector and its stakeholders since 1972, with participation extending to over 40 countries. The worldwide collaboration that supports EPRI’s work comprises more than 1,000 organizations. While most EPRI members are electric utilities, others are businesses; government agencies; regulators; and public or private entities engaged in some aspect of the generation, delivery, or use of electricity.

EU Legislative Interests

For the avoidance of doubt, EPRI Europe DAC does not seek to carry out any influencing activities directed towards the EU institutions with a view to impacting any specific EU policies or legislative proposals. In other words, EPRI Europe DAC does not engage in interest representation activities. Instead, EPRI Europe DAC’s engagement with the EU comes primarily through EU funding mechanisms directed at research and innovation in the electricity sector (with most engagements coming through participation in the EU’s ‘Horizon Europe’ programme). EPRI Europe DAC was founded in 2019 to promote science and research as a nonprofit organisation and to conduct objective and independent energy and environmental research, development and demonstration projects, for the benefit of the public, to enhance the quality of life by making electric power safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible.

Interests Represented

Promotes their own interests or the collective interests of their members

Member Of

EPRI Europe DAC (an Irish-incorporated nonprofit organisation) is wholly owned by EPRI International, Inc. (a US-incorporated for profit entity), which is in turn wholly owned by the Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. (a US-incorporated nonprofit organisation). EPRI Europe DAC does not itself have any members. The Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. (EPRI Europe DAC’s ultimate parent company) does have a membership collaborative comprising hundreds of organisations in the energy and government sectors around the world who engage in R&D and demonstration programs. However, we do not represent or act as an interest representative for any members in our engagement with the European Union. Rigorously objective in our role and our research, we do not advocate for any specific company, sector, or technology. With a foundational mission to benefit society, EPRI delivers independent, objective thought leadership and industry expertise through a highly collaborative approach.
