Small modular reactors

This procedure is an own-initiative report focusing on the development and deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). It examines how these smaller, flexible nuclear reactors can contribute to the EU's energy transition, enhance energy security, and help reach climate neutrality goals by providing stable, low-carbon power.

The initiative primarily affects the energy sector, nuclear industry providers, and EU member states investing in new power infrastructure. It aims to streamline safety standards and industrial scaling for next-generation nuclear technology.
