The Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and amending Regulations (EU) No 1093/2010, (EU) 1094/2010, (EU) 1095/2010
This procedure establishes a new European authority (AMLA) to strengthen the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. It aims to harmonize supervision across the EU, closing gaps that criminals use to move illicit funds across borders and ensuring a more consistent application of rules.
The new authority will directly supervise high-risk financial entities and coordinate national supervisors. This affects banks, payment service providers, and other financial institutions, requiring them to adhere to stricter, unified EU oversight.
