Prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing (repealing Directive 2015/849)

This procedure establishes updated mechanisms for EU Member States to prevent the financial system from being used for money laundering and the financing of terrorism. It aims to strengthen the EU's defenses by harmonizing rules and repealing previous legislation to create a more robust and unified regulatory framework.

Financial institutions, payment service providers, and designated 'obliged entities' will face stricter supervision and reporting requirements. These changes affect how cross-border transfers and electronic payments are monitored to stop the flow of illegal capital.
