This procedure aims to update the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) to simplify reporting and transparency requirements. By reducing administrative burdens on financial firms, the EU seeks to stimulate investment and support economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The changes primarily affect investment firms and stock exchanges. It modifies how product governance is handled and adjusts rules on position limits for commodity derivatives to ensure more efficient market functioning.
