Wijziging van de Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek in verband met het toevoegen van decentrale loting als selectiemethode voor opleidingen met capaciteitsfixus in het hoger onderwijs

Stage otherUpdated 6d ago

This Dutch bill amends the Higher Education and Research Act (WHW) to allow universities and universities of applied sciences to use decentralised lotteries as a method of selecting students for degree programmes with a numerus fixus or capacity limit. Under the proposal, institutions could choose lottery as one selection method alongside existing criteria, rather than relying only on grades or motivation-based procedures. The change would mainly affect prospective students applying to oversubscribed programmes in Dutch higher education, as well as the institutions that run them. Admission rules for capacity-limited courses would be modified, and the bill is based on metadata only, so the exact conditions and safeguards are not reflected here.
