This Dutch bill amends the Environmental Management Act (Wet milieubeheer) to transpose Directive (EU) 2018/2001 on promoting the use of energy from renewable sources into national law. It also aims to put into practice elements of the Dutch Climate Agreement (Klimaatakkoord). The directive sets binding EU targets for renewable energy shares and requires member states to simplify permitting and support renewable projects. The changes would mainly affect energy producers, renewable energy developers, local and national authorities responsible for permits, and energy consumers in the Netherlands. Businesses and public bodies involved in renewable generation or in permitting procedures would need to adapt to the new rules.
