Wijziging van de Waterwet en enkele andere wetten (nieuwe normering primaire waterkeringen)

This Dutch bill amends the Water Act and several other laws to introduce new norms for primary flood defences, the dikes, dunes and other barriers that protect the Netherlands against flooding from the sea and major rivers. Updating these standards reflects changing risk assessments, including climate-related pressures such as sea-level rise and higher river discharges. The changes mainly affect water boards, government authorities responsible for flood protection, and the residents and property owners living behind these defences. Stricter or updated safety requirements may lead to new maintenance or reinforcement obligations for the managers of these structures.
