Wijziging van de Vreemdelingenwet 2000 teneinde te voorzien in een grondslag voor het gebruik van biometrie bij automatische grenscontrole
This Dutch bill amends the Aliens Act 2000 (Vreemdelingenwet 2000) to create a legal basis for using biometric data, such as fingerprints or facial images, in automated border control. Automated gates and similar systems would be able to verify travellers' identities more efficiently at the border. The bill is a national legislative proposal currently before the Dutch House of Representatives. Travellers crossing Dutch external borders, including those using automated border control, would be affected by the processing of their biometric data. Border authorities and the government would gain a clearer legal foundation for these checks. Based on metadata only; the full legislative text was not reviewed.
