Wijziging van de Landbouwkwaliteitswet en de Wet dieren in verband met de implementatie van Verordening (EU) 2024/1143 over kwaliteitsaanduidingen
This Dutch bill amends the Agricultural Quality Act and the Animals Act to implement EU Regulation 2024/1143 on geographical indications and other quality schemes for agricultural products. The EU regulation updates how protected names for wines, spirits, foods and agricultural products are registered and enforced. Because EU regulations apply directly, national laws must be adjusted so that Dutch authorities can enforce the new rules. Producers of protected Dutch and EU quality products, such as regional specialities and traditional food and drink, are most directly affected, along with the national authorities that oversee them. Consumers may see clearer labelling of protected names. The exact changes depend on the full legislative text, which this summary does not cover.
