This Dutch bill amends the Electricity Act 1998 and the Gas Act to write into formal legislation a ban on privatising electricity and gas networks and their grid operators. Currently such a prohibition may rest on lower-level rules; the bill would elevate it to the level of an act of parliament, making it harder to reverse without a full legislative process. The change mainly affects grid operators, the state and municipal shareholders who own them, and households and businesses that depend on stable energy distribution.
