Wijziging van de Auteurswet en de Wet op de naburige rechten in verband met de implementatie van de Richtlijn nr. 2012/28/EU inzake bepaalde toegestane gebruikswijzen van verweesde werken

Stage otherUpdated 6d ago

This Dutch bill amends the Copyright Act (Auteurswet) and the Neighbouring Rights Act (Wet op de naburige rechten) to implement EU Directive 2012/28/EU on certain permitted uses of orphan works. Orphan works are copyrighted materials, such as books, films, photographs or recordings, whose rightholders cannot be identified or located. The measure sets out when cultural institutions may digitise, make available and preserve such works without a licence. The changes mainly affect libraries, archives, museums, educational establishments and public-service broadcasters that hold orphan works, as well as authors and rightholders who may find their works used under these rules.
