Voorstel van wet van het lid Van Raak inzake een verbod op clustermunitie
This is a private member's bill in the Dutch House of Representatives, introduced by MP Van Raak, proposing a legal ban on cluster munitions. Cluster munitions scatter multiple submunitions over a wide area and often leave unexploded devices that continue to kill and maim civilians long after conflicts end. The proposal would give the Netherlands statutory force behind its international commitments on this weapon type. The bill would apply to Dutch armed forces, defence companies and others operating under Dutch jurisdiction, restricting their ability to use, develop, produce, store or transfer cluster munitions. Civilians in conflict zones and the defence industry would be most directly affected by its provisions.
