This Dutch bill sets rules for processing data to protect the security and integrity of electronic information systems that are vital to Dutch society. It also introduces a duty to report serious cybersecurity incidents. The law is titled the Wet gegevensverwerking en meldplicht cybersecurity (Cybersecurity Data Processing and Reporting Obligation Act). It is based on metadata only, not the full legislative text. Organisations operating vital electronic systems in the Netherlands would be affected, particularly those required to report serious breaches. Government bodies handling cybersecurity data would also face new rules on how that data may be processed.
