This law updates Dutch telecommunications and economic offenses legislation to comply with EU standards regarding the storage of electronic communication data. It establishes rules for how service providers must retain certain types of data to assist in the investigation of serious crimes. Telecommunications service providers in the Netherlands are affected by these requirements. They must implement technical measures to ensure that data processed during the provision of public electronic communications services is stored for a specified period.
