This procedure establishes the medical standards and requirements that seafarers must meet to be certified as fit for duty on a vessel. It ensures that crew members are physically and mentally capable of performing their tasks safely at sea, protecting both the crew and the environment. These regulations apply to all seafarers working on ships registered in or operating within Latvia, as well as medical professionals responsible for conducting the required health assessments.
