This directive establishes common rules for bodies responsible for promoting equality and protecting against discrimination in the workplace. It aims to ensure that women and men have equal opportunities and treatment in employment and occupation across the EU, strengthening the support systems available to those facing gender-based discrimination. Member States must ensure these equality bodies are independent, well-resourced, and capable of providing legal assistance and monitoring compliance. Employers and workers in the labor market will be affected by these enhanced protections and oversight mechanisms.
