Exempter les produits issus d’une appellation d’origine protégée ou d’une indication géographique protégée de l’obligation d’apposition d’un indice Nutri-Score

Stage committeeUpdated 7d ago

This French bill proposes exempting products carrying a protected designation of origin (AOP/PDO) or protected geographical indication (IGP/PGI) from the obligation to display a Nutri-Score nutritional rating on their packaging. The Nutri-Score is a five-colour front-of-pack label grading foods by nutritional quality. The proposal targets protected regional food products, whose supporters argue that the score does not reflect their traditional production methods. If adopted, producers of AOP- and IGP-labelled foods in France would no longer be required to show the Nutri-Score on their products. Consumers buying these protected products would lose the standardised nutritional grade on the front of pack. The text is based on metadata only and does not reflect the full legislative wording.
