Proposition de loi modifiant le Code électoral en vue d'interdire le port de signes convictionnels ostensibles par les membres des bureaux électoraux.

Stage en_commissionUpdated 3mo ago

This is a Belgian bill, proposed in the Chamber of Representatives, that would amend the Electoral Code to prohibit members of polling station bureaus from wearing conspicuous religious or philosophical signs while performing their duties. It is a national measure, not an EU law. Based on its title alone, it concerns how neutrality is maintained during elections and how freedom of religious expression is balanced against that neutrality. The measure would apply to people who serve on electoral bureaus, the volunteer and official panels that run polling stations and count votes. Voters and the wider public would not be directly subject to it. The full text would show exactly which signs are covered and how the rule would be enforced.
