Mission & Goals
Shellworks is a biomaterials company headquartered in London, UK with a mission to eliminate packaging waste through the advancement of natural materials. Shellworks is creating biobased and naturally biodegradable packaging for the wellness industry with Vivomer, a family of biobased natural polymers made by microorganisms. Through Vivomer, Shellworks creates packaging that supports the EU’s goals of scaling reuse and refill systems, minimising waste, eliminating public health risks of harmful chemicals in plastics, and decoupling materials from fossil fuels. From a packaging perspective, these products are recyclable, refillable, reusable, and home compostable, and are scaled up leveraging existing manufacturing technologies.

EU Single Use Plastic Directive: Feedback submitted on SUPD call for evidence, rules on single use plastics and fishing gear. Feedback Reference F33382431 EU Bioeconomy Strategy EU Biotech Act: Participated in 2025 study supporting an impact assessment on biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the EU, carried out by Deloitte and empirica on behalf of the Commission.
