Mission & Goals
PHRD (Protect Human Rights Defenders) is a civil society organisation dedicated to the protection, support, and advocacy of human rights defenders who face persecution, transnational repression, and state violence. PHRD’s remit encompasses policy engagement with EU institutions, the promotion of free expression, justice, and safe environments, and the advancement of trauma‑informed and intersectional approaches within human rights protection frameworks. PHRD operates on the basis of defender‑centred principles, including brave spaces, intersectionality, and trauma‑informed practice, and seeks to strengthen EU‑level mechanisms that safeguard individuals and groups defending fundamental rights.
