Mission & Goals
pro legal - Interessengemeinschaft für Waffenbesitz e.V. is a non-profit association representing the interests of lawful civilian weapons owners in Germany, including sports shooters, hunters, collectors and other affected groups. The organisation advocates for a fair, proportionate and evidence-based legal framework for civilian ownership and use of weapons. This includes firearms as well as other legally owned items subject to weapons legislation. pro legal e.V. engages in legal and policy analysis, prepares position papers and participates in consultations and public discourse at national and European level. The organisation contributes to discussions on weapons legislation by promoting a factual, non-ideological and transparent approach to regulation and by highlighting the practical implications of legal measures for law-abiding citizens. The organisation operates on a voluntary basis and does not pursue commercial interests.
EU Legislative Interests
pro legal e.V. monitors and contributes to discussions on European legislation related to civilian weapons law, including firearms, knives and other regulated items. The organisation is particularly interested in ensuring that legislative initiatives at EU level are proportionate, evidence-based and take into account the situation of law-abiding citizens. This includes engagement with policy areas such as internal security, civilian ownership of regulated items and related regulatory frameworks.
Communication Activities
pro legal e.V. carries out communication and advocacy activities in relation to European policy areas concerning weapons legislation. These activities include the publication of position papers, statements and analyses on relevant legislative developments, as well as providing information to members and the public via the organisation’s website and other communication channels.
