Mission & Goals
Mestni muzej Idrija je pooblaščeni muzej za opravljanje državne javne službe varstva dediščine on območju občin Idrija in Cerkno. Gre za muzej splošnega značaja, v širšem prostoru prepoznaven predvsem po svoji skrbi za tehniško dediščino idrijskega rudnika živega srebra, drugega največjega živosrebrovega rudnika na svetu, dediščino klekljanja idrijske čipke in znamenito bolnišnico iz druge svetovne vojne, Partizansko bolnico Franja. Spomeniki tehniške dediščine, s katerimi med drugimi upravlja tudi Muzej, so bili skupaj s preostalo dediščino rudarske Idrije leta 2012 vpisani na Unescov Seznam svetovne dediščine, Partizanska bolnica Franja pa je leta 2015 kot prvo spomeniško območje v Sloveniji prejela Znak evropske dediščine.
