Mission & Goals
Young European Socialists (YES) engages socialist, social democratic, and labour youth and students across Europe and its neighbouring countries by providing a platform for European-level political debate and coordinated action on key EU policy priorities. The organisation works to promote a socialist, feminist, sustainable, fair, and equal Europe. YES brings together more than 60 Member Organisations and operates as a pan-European network of youth and student organisations. It works in close cooperation with the Party of European Socialists and the S&D Group in the European Parliament, contributing to policy discussions and advocacy at the European level.
EU Legislative Interests
YES engages across a broad range of EU policy areas, with a particular focus on advancing a social, sustainable and youth-centred Europe. Key recent legislative and policy priorities include: - EU Directive on Quality Traineeships (fighting unpaid and precarious work) - European Green Deal and related climate legislation - European Mental Health initiatives and youth wellbeing policies - Erasmus+ and EU youth programmes - Digital regulation and youth digital rights - Policies linked to the European Pillar of Social Rights (e.g. minimum wages, housing, platform work) These priorities reflect the political positions adopted at the YES Congress, including stronger youth participation in decision-making, fair working conditions, and social justice across Europe.
Communication Activities
To influence and shape these EU policies, YES carries out a combination of internal mobilisation and external advocacy, including: - Policy development through seminars, working groups, and statutory meetings with member organisations across Europe - Advocacy and stakeholder engagement with European political actors, including cooperation with the Party of European Socialists and other partners - Campaigning and public communication via coordinated social media actions and political campaigns - Organisation of and participation in events, including side-events at major European-level gatherings such as the European Youth Event - Direct outreach to policymakers and institutional stakeholders to promote YES policy positions
