Mission & Goals
The ifaa – Insitut für angewandte Arbeitswissenschaft is the research institute of the German metal and electrical industry for issues relating to the design of the working world. The institute works on an interdisciplinary basis on topics in work science and organisational design, in particular in the areas of working time and remuneration, work ability and performance, operational excellence, and transformation. It combines scientific analysis with practical business experience and supports its sponsoring organisations and member companies through research, analyses, events, seminars, and publications. The objective of ifaa is to provide scientifically sound and practice-oriented insights for the further development of work systems and organisations.
EU Legislative Interests
Implementation of the EU AI Act, in particular governance and practical application issues relevant to the AI Act Advisory Forum, including high-risk AI, AI literacy, standardisation, conformity assessment, and the impact of AI in employment and workplace contexts.
Communication Activities
* Regular seminars, expert events and presentations on AI in the workplace, work design, occupational safety and health, and related applied research topics * Publications and research outputs by ifaa on work science, digitalisation and AI-related impacts on employment, skills, work organisation and implementation in companies * Knowledge transfer and expert communication towards companies, associations and professional audiences on the practical implications of AI, including AI literacy, responsible use of AI and relevant standardisation or regulatory developments
