Mission & Goals
CSignum is a technology company focused on enabling reliable wireless data communication in environments where conventional radio and acoustic systems are ineffective, including underwater, underground, and subsea infrastructure environments. The organisation’s remit is to support improved environmental monitoring, infrastructure resilience, and regulatory compliance through the deployment of innovative communication technologies. CSignum engages with public sector bodies, research organisations, and industry stakeholders to share technical expertise and demonstrate how its solutions can support the implementation of environmental monitoring frameworks, particularly in water quality, marine, and coastal environments. CSignum does not engage in lobbying activities but seeks to contribute technical insight and provide practical solutions aligned with existing and emerging EU regulatory requirements.
EU Legislative Interests
CSignum’s activities are aligned with EU environmental and water monitoring frameworks, including: • Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC): supporting real-time monitoring of ecological and chemical status of surface and groundwater bodies • Marine Strategy Framework Directive (2008/56/EC): enabling monitoring of marine environmental status and underwater ecosystems • Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (91/271/EEC) and its proposed revisions: supporting continuous monitoring of wastewater discharges, including overflow events • Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC): enabling improved monitoring of coastal and inland bathing water quality • EU Zero Pollution Action Plan: contributing to improved environmental data collection and monitoring infrastructure • EU Climate Adaptation Strategy: supporting resilience through enhanced environmental sensing and monitoring • Digital Europe Programme & Green Deal Data initiatives: enabling digitalisation of environmental monitoring systems CSignum’s technology supports implementation of these frameworks by enabling reliable, real-time data transmission from sensors deployed in challenging environments where traditional communication methods are not viable.
