Mission & Goals
In July 2016, Charlie Airlines Ltd, won a tender competition for the right to use the national carrier trademark Cyprus Airways for a decade, signing a corresponding agreement with the Ministry of Finance of Cyprus. Cyprus Airways is the local carrier in Cyprus with vision to connect Cyprus with the world through safe, reliable, and sustainable air travel, embodying the true spirit and warmth of Cypriot hospitality.
EU Legislative Interests
Request of having the emission allowances of former Cyprus Airways to its subsequent owner company. Subject: Allocation of free emission allowances to CYPRUS AIRWAYS under the European Union Emissions Trading System (hereinafter referred to as the “EU ETS”) CYPRUS AIRWAYS, as the successor of the former Cyprus Airways, is entitled to claim the allocation of the free emission allowances that corresponded to the predecessor, and which should have been transferred or allocated to its successor. We consider that the allocation of these rights at EU level was not conducted in a manner that reflects the specific circumstances of the establishment and operation of CYPRUS AIRWAYS. In light of the above, our intend is to request the European Commission to assess succession and fair allocation of EU ETS.
