Current EU activities of the registrant, as self-employed individual expert acting in a strictly personal capacity: Registered subscriber of initiative 17772, Union-wide end-of-waste criteria for textile waste, on the Have Your Say portal of the European Commission. Monitoring of the preparatory phase, Call for Evidence and public consultation as and when they are opened. Ongoing academic and professional work on EU climate and trade compliance, in particular on the revised Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC, as amended in October 2025), the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), with emphasis on the downstream effects of these instruments on third-country exporters and Lusophone markets. Regular opinion journalism on EU environmental and trade policy in Portuguese national media (Observador).

Preparation of technical input addressed to the JRC Product Bureau (Seville Process) and to DG ENV, Unit B.3 (Waste Management and Secondary Materials), throughout the preparatory and consultation phases. Adjacent EU policy areas of interest Revised Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC, as amended in October 2025), with particular attention to Article 6 on end-of-waste criteria and to Extended Producer Responsibility schemes for textiles. Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the Digital Product Passport, and product-specific delegated acts relevant to textiles and to recycled content claims. Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), with attention to its interaction with secondary raw materials, recycled inputs and embedded emissions accounting.
