Unitary supplementary protection certificate for plant protection products
This procedure aims to create a single, EU-wide supplementary protection certificate (SPC) for plant protection products. Currently, companies must apply for protection in each individual member state, which is costly and administratively burdensome. A unitary system would streamline the process and provide consistent intellectual property protection across the Union.
This change primarily affects the chemical and agricultural industries, specifically companies developing pesticides and plant health products. It simplifies the legal process for securing extended patent protection for their innovations.
