This procedure aims to prohibit the sale and export of goods produced using forced labour within the European Union market. By establishing a framework to identify and ban these products, the EU seeks to protect fundamental human rights and ensure that global trade does not support exploitative labour practices.

This will affect companies importing goods into the EU and exporters. Businesses will need to ensure their supply chains are free from forced labour to avoid having their products withdrawn from the market.
