Smart borders package

This procedure concerns the creation of a new 'smart borders' system for the EU's external borders. It aims to modernise and streamline border checks for travellers entering the Schengen Area from non-EU countries.

The package will introduce an Entry/Exit System (EES) and an EU Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). This will affect travellers from visa-exempt countries and enhance security by tracking entries and exits.
