Data protection for criminal law enforcement (Directive)
This procedure establishes rules for how police and judicial authorities handle personal data when preventing, investigating, or prosecuting crimes. It aims to ensure that the fight against crime respects the fundamental right to privacy and data protection.
It affects law enforcement agencies and judicial bodies across the EU, ensuring that citizens' data is processed fairly and securely while allowing the safe exchange of information between member states.
