By standardizing how data on asylum seekers and refugees is gathered, the EU can better monitor migration trends and make more informed policy decisions.

This will primarily affect national statistical offices and migration authorities. It ensures that data on displaced persons and the use of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) are consistent and comparable across all member states.
