EU rail system interoperability (recast)
This procedure updates the rules to ensure that trains, tracks, and signaling systems work seamlessly across different EU member states. By standardizing technical specifications, the EU aims to remove technical barriers that currently hinder the movement of trains across borders.
This affects rail operators, infrastructure managers, and manufacturers. It simplifies certification processes and promotes the use of common standards to make passenger and freight rail travel faster and more efficient.
