Import, export & transit measures for firearms and ammunition (UN Firearms Protocol)
This procedure updates the rules for importing, exporting, and transiting firearms, their essential components, and ammunition within and outside the EU. It aims to implement the UN Firearms Protocol to prevent the illegal trafficking of weapons and combat organized crime by strengthening tracking and control mechanisms.
These rules affect arms manufacturers, licensed traders, and customs authorities. It introduces stricter requirements for documentation and authorization to ensure weapons do not fall into the wrong hands.
