This procedure aims to reduce the emissions of fluorinated gases (F-gases), which are potent greenhouse gases often used in refrigeration and air conditioning. By phasing down their use, the EU seeks to combat climate change and protect the ozone layer in line with international environmental agreements.
This will affect manufacturers and users of cooling and heating equipment. It requires a transition to more environmentally friendly alternatives and stricter controls on the production and sale of these gases.
