Frontex: False and authentic documents online (FADO) system
This procedure establishes the FADO system, a centralized database used by the European Border and Coast Guard to identify genuine and forged travel and identity documents. By sharing information on document security features, the EU aims to strengthen border security and prevent identity fraud.
This affects border guards, visa officers, and security agencies across the EU. It streamlines how authorities verify documents and replaces the outdated Council Joint Action No 98/700/JHA.
