Prüm II: Automated data exchange for police cooperation
This procedure updates the rules for the automated exchange of DNA, fingerprint, and vehicle registration data between EU member states. By modernizing the 'Prüm' framework, the EU aims to speed up the identification of suspects and missing persons to better combat terrorism and organized crime.
Law enforcement agencies across the EU will benefit from faster, more secure data sharing. This change affects how police forces access and exchange forensic and vehicle data to track criminals across borders.
