Amendment: Biofuels and biogas feedstock (Directive 2018/2001)
This resolution expresses the European Parliament's objection to a proposed directive that would add new types of materials, called feedstock, for producing biofuels and biogas.
The directive affects producers of biofuels and biogas, as well as potentially farmers and landowners, by changing the list of approved materials used in their production processes.
The Parliament objects because it believes the Commission has exceeded its authority and that the proposed feedstock carries significant risks of fraud, market distortion, and negative environmental impacts, such as increased land demand and pollution.
The Parliament instructs its President to inform the Commission that the delegated directive cannot enter into force and calls for future delegated acts to undergo public consultation and impact assessments.
