This procedure updates the list of non-EU countries identified as having strategic deficiencies in their systems to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. By maintaining an accurate list, the EU ensures that financial institutions apply enhanced due diligence when dealing with high-risk jurisdictions to protect the global financial system.
This affects financial institutions and businesses conducting transactions with the listed countries. Burkina Faso, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, the Philippines, and South Sudan are added to the high-risk list, while The Bahamas, Botswana, Ghana, Iraq, and Mauritius are removed.
