EU-Jordan: Scientific cooperation & PRIMA participation
This legislative act approves an agreement to extend the participation of Jordan in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA). PRIMA aims to foster scientific cooperation to address challenges like sustainable food systems and water management in the Mediterranean region.
The agreement directly affects the European Union and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It allows Jordanian researchers to continue collaborating with European and Mediterranean partners on shared challenges, strengthening regional science diplomacy.
The updated agreement aligns Jordan's participation with the Horizon Europe framework and ensures it meets current legal and financial standards. This extension guarantees cooperation until 2031, maintaining a proven partnership and reinforcing the EU's commitment to regional stability and development.
This decision is part of the EU's external policies, including the New Agenda for the Mediterranean. It does not introduce new budgetary costs beyond those already planned for PRIMA under Horizon Europe.
