Mission & Goals
The Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper) works on an interdisciplinary basis, involving humanities, social and natural sciences, with special emphasis given to the research in the specific environments of the Mediterranean and the upper Adriatic region. The main activities are: basic and applied research, production of professional expertise and counselling, education, organisation of scientific meetings, publishing and editorial activities, librarianship. ZRS Koper is actively integrating in international scientific cooperation and is connecting with many similar organisations worldwide. Researchers are also actively involved in academic process at all three Slovene public universities, thus ensuring the transfer of research results into the educational sphere.
EU Legislative Interests
ZRS Koper’s activities are focused on supporting EU policies in the fields of research, innovation, higher education, sustainable development, international cooperation, open science, and the protection of cultural and natural heritage, particularly within the framework of the European Research Area and the Horizon Europe programme.
Communication Activities
ZRS Koper carries out communication activities related to EU policies through the organization of scientific and professional conferences, workshops, seminars, and public events, participation in international projects, the publication of scientific outputs, and the dissemination of research results via websites, social media, and other communication channels. It places particular emphasis on raising awareness of the importance of research, sustainable development, international cooperation, and the transfer of knowledge to society at large.

Member Of
The Science and Research Centre Koper is a full member of the EMUNI network – the Euro-Mediterranean University – and participates in various international research and educational networks and consortia, particularly within European programmes.
