Mission & Goals
Biedrība “Zaļā brīvība” ir sabiedriska vides aizsardzības un vides izglītības organizācija, kuras misija ir veicināt tādas sabiedrības attīstību, kas dzīvo saskaņā ar sevi un apkārtējo vidi. Lai to paveiktu, informējam sabiedrību par patērētājdarbības un globalizācijas ietekmi uz dabu un sociālo vidi, aicinām līdzdarboties lēmumu pieņemšanā par jautājumiem, kas tieši vai netieši ietekmē ikdienas dzīvi, veicinām vides nevalstisko organizāciju līdzdalību nacionālās un starptautiskās likumdošanas izstrādē, pieņemšanā un ieviešanā, kā arī pretojamies ļaunprātīgai varas izmantošanai.
EU Legislative Interests
Climate policy, energy policy, nature protection and restoration policy, environmental protection policy. More specific legislative acts: Renewable Energy Directive III, Habitats Directive, Nature Restoration Regulation transposition in member states, European Climate Law, Energy Performance Buildings Directive transposition in member states, ETS Directive transposition in member states, LULUCF Regulation, as well as legislative acts amendments proposal in context with next MFF.
Communication Activities
Taking part in informal exchange between the European Commission and Latvian non-governmental organisations in the field of nature conservation on September 23rd, 2025. Publication of brochure reflecting investment needs of the regions (distributed also to EC officals, July, 2025): https://www.zalabriviba.lv/wp-content/uploads/2025_06_Transformative-projects-leaflets_Latvian.pdf Speaker from DG EMPL was invited to an event organized by us on May 8th in Rezekne, Latvia to discuss transport poverty challanges, also in the context of Social Climate fund. Within 2025 several letters sent to EC officials with regards to amendmends and use of flexibility funding of Cohesion policy funds suggested by Latvian ministries within midterm review. In 2025 letter sent to EC official on possible Just transition fund implementation issues.

Projektā, ko finansē Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Eiropas klimata iniciatīva (EUKI), biedrība "Zaļā brīvība" ir vadošais partneris, tāpēc visa projekta finansējums iet caur biedrību, lai gan lielākā daļa finansējuma tiek tālāk pārskaitīta projekta ieviešanas partneriem.
