Mission & Goals
Xella is a provider of building and insulation materials based primarily on mineral raw materials. The company develops, manufactures and markets products and system solutions for energy-efficient, resource-efficient and durable buildings, including autoclaved aerated concrete, calcium silicate units, mineral insulation solutions and related building systems. Xella’s activities include the representation of interests in relation to construction policy, building regulation, sustainability requirements, energy efficiency in buildings, circular economy, life-cycle assessment, environmental product information, construction product regulation, standardisation and technical rules for building materials and building systems. The company follows and contributes to policy and regulatory developments at national and European level where these affect the manufacture, placing on the market and use of construction products and building materials.
EU Legislative Interests
Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and its national implementation, in particular requirements related to energy-efficient buildings, renovation, life-cycle performance and building envelopes. Construction Products Regulation (CPR), including rules on the placing on the market of construction products, declarations of performance, CE marking, digital product information and sustainability-related product information. EU initiatives on circular economy, resource efficiency and the use of secondary raw materials in construction. EU climate and sustainability policies affecting buildings and construction products, including life-cycle assessment, embodied carbon and environmental product declarations. EU standardisation policy and technical rules relevant to construction products, masonry products, building materials and related test and assessment methods. EU policies related to affordable and sustainable housing, renovation of the building stock and the competitiveness of the construction sector.
Communication Activities
Xella participates in industry events, conferences, stakeholder exchanges and association activities related to EU policies affecting construction products and sustainable buildings. Relevant communication activities include technical publications, position papers, presentations, website content and stakeholder briefings on topics such as energy efficiency in buildings, sustainable construction, life-cycle assessment, circular economy, construction product regulation, standardisation and environmental product information.
