World Uyghur Congress

EU Legislative Interests

The WUC performs some lobbying activities in relation to the EU and European Parliament. In particular, the WUC meets with MEPs, as well as with the EEAS, to update them on the deteriorating human rights situation in the Uyghur Autonomous Region/East Turkistan, and push for European action to alleviate the suffering of the Uyghur people. The WUC is focused on EU foreign policy, particularly its relations with China. We advocate for human rights to be fully integrated in the EU's relations with China and for the Uyghur issue to be raised.

Communication Activities

The World Uyghur Congress works together with various international nongovernmental organizations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Anti-Slavery International and the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation to implement its advocacy strategy in the institutions of the European Union. This includes awareness-raising campaigns on the deteriorating human rights situation for Uyghurs, in particular Uyghur forced labour, arbitrary detentions, forced assimilations and transnational repression.

The World Uyghur Congress received in the financial year of 2024 various donations, which amount to 56.848,96€, as well as smaller institutional grants of less than 100 000€ each.
