Mission & Goals
We at the World Future Council envision a healthy planet with just and peaceful societies – now and in the future. To achieve this, we identify, develop, highlight, and spread future-just solutions for current challenges humanity is facing and award them every other year with our unique Future Policy Award. Our Council consists of 50 eminent global changemakers from civil society, science, politics, and business. It determines the agenda of our work and develops positions on them. They meet annually at the World Future Forum to discuss the most urgent challenges and policy solutions to them. Jakob von Uexkull, the Founder of the Alternative Nobel Prize, launched the World Future Council in 2007.
EU Legislative Interests
We follow work on intergenerational justice and solidarity, and on making the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) more relevant within the European Union, in particular through institutions and bodies that can play a pioneering role in the (supra)national implementation of sustainable development. Further, we facilitate cross-border policy dialogues to foster the idea of an Energy Union based on renewable energy. We also follow work at the European Union in other areas of our work that include financial stability, violence against women and girls, and disability.
