Mission & Goals
The WBA advocates for the collection of organic wastes and materials, and their treatment through technologies such as anaerobic digestion (AD), which turns them into renewable energy, bio-CO2, natural fertilisers, and other valuable bio-products. We call this “the Circular Economy of Organic Wastes”. If not captured, treated, and recycled through AD, these organic wastes pollute the surrounding environment, and emit harmful methane emissions and CO2. By recycling our organic wastes through AD, we can reduce global GHG emissions by at least 11%. Since AD is a technology available and widely used today, this could be achieved by 2030 with the right policy support.
