Mission & Goals

WBA mission is to promote the sustainable development of bioenergy globally and to support the business environment for the sector. We are a member based organisation with stakeholders along the entire value chain of biomass to energy including equipment manufacturers, biofuel producers, national/regional associations and individuals. Our activities primarily involve publication of factsheets and statistics, organising conferences/webinars and engaging with international organizations to advocate for bioenergy.

EU Legislative Interests

There are no specific policies or targets tracked by the WBA. Our mandate is international advocacy and we concentrate our efforts predominantly in advocating for bioenergy solutions at international energy and climate forums. At the same time, the EU is an important player in the bioenergy space. As such, we keep track of legislations that may have an impact on the bioenergy sector. These include the EU Renewable Energy Directive (III), Fuel Quality Directive, EU Deforestation Regulation etc.

Communication Activities

We did not undertake any EU policy specific activity in 2025. Last year, our advocacy was international with presence at other inter governmental organisations, organising webinars, preparing publications etc. Some of the activities may have mentioned EU policies, but no specific activity was undertaken related to EU policy.
