The aims of the association are achieved through the following strategic activities: -To work to create and widen spaces to network and multiply the impact of feminist activism. . -To aim to transform institutional settings, attitudes, power relations, policies and practices so that they reflect development and economic paradigms that are in line with fundamental human rights. -To act in solidarity and collaborate with feminist and women’s and human rights movements, groups and individuals.

Communication Activities
Women In Development Europe+, in short WIDE+, is a European feminist network of feminist activists and organizations, women’s rights advocates, gender specialists, migrant women associations, as well as other NGOs that promote an intersectional feminism as part of their overall goal of promoting human rights and sustainable development. It works through interlinked strategies of analysis and capacity building, encouraging innovative movement building through creating spaces for exchange and collaboration or fostering participation in existing spaces, and advocacy towards the EU and European countries on a range of topics. WIDE+ Strategies: WIDE+’s three strategies of intervention since its inception are: • Strengthening network/movement building, through fostering spaces for exchange and participation. • Having more impact (outreach, advocacy and lobbying). • Building the capacities of feminists and other relevant stakeholders in knowledge and skills. WIDE+ combines expertise-driven advocacy and capacity building on topics that are less often addressed in other European women’s rights associations such as digital transformation from a gender lens, gender and trade and other feminist economic topics. And it works from the grassroots groups upwards acknowledging the widespread power relations that exist in the feminist movement. In its work with migrant women, the agenda is set by migrant women-led organisations together with feminist organisations and other association, promoting migrant women leadership. WIDE+ focuses on developing programmes and activities with women-led organisation in Eastern Europe, including EU pre-accession and neighbouring countries. And it makes use of feminist expertise from the Global South as many groups have a huge amount of experience that can benefit civil society in Europe. It has also started to work around LGBTQI rights, which it aims to increase as a crosscutting issue in its work. WIDE+ is a network with an extensive membership and partnership and small secretariat. The network reaches out to 400 associations, through its national platforms and other members organisations that are networks in themselves. Its formal membership includes 31 associations that are formally registered in European countries, of which 22 registered in 14 EU member states. There are 32 individual members. WIDE+ also brings together partner organisations and individuals in its working group - in particular the gender and migration working group - which accounts to 12-15 partner associations. And it is part of several alliances as well as currently one consortium, leading to a reach to other civil society and institutions of 500 to 700 associations. This also includes associations outside of Europe. WIDE+ leverages on different communication tools to reach out to its target audience. These tools include WIDE+ website, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, a bi-weekly newsletter, and dissemination through its members and partners, through email and social media. WIDE+ had built a good presence on twitter, but this disappeared with the transformation to X. We are currently on Bluesky. WIDE+ reaches different types of target audiences in its external communications efforts – the first target group is the members of the network; the second group is made up of individuals or organizations that subscribe to WIDE+’s mailing list, and/or follow WIDE+ social media accounts; a third groups is an interested audience that can be reached through creating visibility for its message and regular communication. The target audience includes organizations doing work related to gender equality and women’s rights, other members of civil society, academics, policymakers, and other individuals working with - or with interest in - feminism, gender equality and women’s rights.

Additional Information
We received last years three Erasmus+ grants, first tranche for which we are lead and to disburse among the partners. We are also partner in one Horizon funded project and another Erasmus+ grant. This money has been sent to beneficiaries, last year and this year and also some of the grants is for next years. The above budget is for 2023; in 2024 the budget spent was 374.000 Euros. Obviously what we receive is different from what we spent as the grant financing is spent over multiple years. The budget likely to be spent in 2025 is around 165000 Euros.
